The candidate will perform a variety of moderately complex tasks applied to specialized technology problems. Tasks involve integration of electronic processes or methodologies to resolve total systems problems or technology problems. Analyzes information security requirements. Applies analytical and systematic approaches in the resolution of problems of work flow, organization, and planning. Assist the Senior Engineer in directing and assisting other systems engineers in the application of engineering principles to the solution of secure systems design problems. We are seeking a techno-functional person to handle network security within the US Government. Will be responsible for supporting efforts at levels 2 and 3. Individual will learn rules regulations and compliance standards within the Department of Defense and its clients. Position primarily focuses on Analyzing the existing systems and verifying compliance. Overall responsible for security compliance of network and its users. Will also document the network in an attempt to verify security is compliant with DOD standards. Great writing skills and the desire to learn new things are very important.
The hired professional reviews and assesses DoD network security packages on local and wide area network environments. Review security posture and topology and verifies that all requested documentation for connection to the NIPRNet has been submitted to the Unclassified Connection Approval Office. Prepare letters recommending the government grant Approval Authority to Connect (IATC/ATC) to the NIPRNet. Maintains logs and databases and produces monthly reports. Performs a variety of routine project tasks applied to specialized technology problems. Assist customers in resolving connection issues associated with their connection requests, and recommends solutions to bring their systems/networks/ architectures into compliance with NIPRNet connection requirements. Analyze information security requirements. performs network vulnerability analysis and reporting. Performs network security monitoring and analysis, identifies suspicious and malicious activities, identifies and tracks malicious code (including worms, viruses, trojan horses, etc), enters and tracks events and incidents. Supports incident escalation and assesses probable impact and damages, identifies damage controls, assists in developing courses of action and recovery procedures. Has knowledge of LANs, VPNs, Routers, firewalls, and applies knowledge of current IA policy at the national IA structure, roles of major organizations how they interrelate and interact, and shortcomings in this structure. Reviews and recommends IA solutions to customer problems based on an understanding of how products and services interrelate and supports the IA mission and the viewpoints of the consumers of those products and services. Analyzes and recommends resolution of IA problems based on knowledge of the major IA products and services, an understanding of their limitations, and a working knowledge of the disciplines of IA
