The position calls for an individual with experience in Java programming and software configuration management to maintain, extend, customize, test, configure, build, and deploy a large, existing software artifact written in Java. An ideal candidate will have prior experience with common enterprise Java frameworks and technologies, including ORM (Hibernate or EJB), App server (Tomcat or JBoss), Spring/J2EE, web services (SOAP/REST), web application frameworks (JSP/Servlet, Struts, GWT, JSF), desktop UI (Swing), and unit testing (JUnit). Direct experience with Apache tools and frameworks is extremely desirable, specifically including: Lucene, Ant or Maven, Continuum (or Hudson), and Archiva (or Nexus). Experience with open source software development tools is also desired, including SourceForge or GForge, Subversion, and Eclipse. To be successful, the candidate must also have excellent communication skills to interact with an inter-disciplinary team of technology and terminology experts.
Candidates should have a degree in Computer Science or related field with at least five years of industry experience. The job will require the ability to understand the architecture of a complex and extensible workbench well enough to create new, custom functionality and user interfaces. Familiarity with biomedical terminologies, knowledge representation, and software development best practices is a plus.
