About this role:

The role is responsible for designing, coding and modifying websites. From small exhibition websites to large websites dedicated to entire Museums, you will be working directly with stakeholders to come up with attractive, functional, and engaging user experiences. Your technical knowledge of Drupal, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS will help support hundreds of content managers and designers create the next generation of Smithsonian websites.

Job Duties:

  • Convert designs into custom Drupal (responsive) themes/sub-themes
  • Configure new and existing Drupal sites using core and contributed modules to create robust business solutions
  • Evaluate third-party Drupal modules for suitability, and install/configure these modules, develop custom modules and/or enhance third-party modules
  • Integrate internal or third party products into Drupal sites
  • Integrate commenting, rating, and other social networking features into Drupal sites
  • Diagnose and correct problems in existing websites
  • Migrate content from existing websites into Drupal
  • Perform site testing and issue resolution
  • Perform core and module updates
  • Provide training and guidance to new Drupal users
  • Support and troubleshoot with existing users in-person and remote
  • Manage and process support tickets to ensure timely resolution of issues
  • Perform similar duties for WordPress sites

Prior Experience and Proven Skills should include:

  • Minimum three years experience with web development skills including HTML 5, CSS and JavaScript/jQuery
  • Three years of Drupal 7 site building experience
  • Three years of Drupal theme development experience
  • Experience migrating sites from Drupal 6 to 7
  • Three years working in a LAMP environment (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP)
  • Experience building, maintaining, and migrating WordPress websites is a plus
